Feeling the Monday blues or has your Coffee hit the cortisol already ? Mine surely hasn't as I'm feeling all shades of blue but I assure you, this "out of the blue" post of mine is in no intention to disrupt your daily routine with chitchats.
Now, now, now!!! back to the topic - What's up with Snato and What's not working?
To be honest - Snato is working tan-a-tan (healthy, steady and at a comfortable pace). So, what's not working :
the face behind the brand i.e. yours truly - Me
No, no, not at all!!! please don't jump the gun. Am not quitting or closing down Snato. Not a Chance.
For last couple of months, I took a step back from the daily hustle and tried to understand the brand from a business perspective rather than a creator's perspective and there are few areas where I need to rethink and take conscious decisions.
This is going to be long. Grab a Masala Chai or Coffee. Shall we?
Conscious Stock Management and Consumption
As the founder of Snato, I've always envisioned creating a brand that promotes both conscious consumption and sustainable inventory practices. We've strived to fill gaps in the market by offering eco-friendly alternatives at budget-friendly prices, like handcrafted soaps replacing single-use plastics and 100% compostable bamboo brushes. Our focus was to avoid oversaturation and discourage unnecessary hoarding.
However, my creative spark sometimes kicked in and led to formulate products already available in abundance. While it did give our brand a financial push initially, this expansion eventually impacted our inventory and ultimately, sales. For example, skincare products like moisturizers and clay masks, while appreciated, lacked the distinct edge to compete due to similar offerings in the market. This led to slower sales and expiring products, generating waste that contradicts our values.
Then again, products like feetup, cold-processed soaps, perfumes really created a buzz and provided steady sales that suggests our patrons are more eager to try out products those are bringing value to them.
What's the plan ahead? We have a full flowchart ready now or do we!!!
To be honest, we don't. But we will figure out and need your help. Won't you? From now on,we're recommitting to our original goal: filling gaps and creating most loved products with longer shelf lives or higher demand like soaps, balms, and perfumes.
Does that mean we stop making masks/creams/lotions - No, absolutely not. Rather we'll transition them to a pre-order model. This ensures you receive fresh batches while minimizing waste and stress on our inventory.
Pre-ordering offers a win-win: you get fresh products, and we reduce waste and ensure sustainable practices. Together, we will be able to restore the value of conscious consumption and waste-reduction.
Please write to us your thoughts on this.
Great plan and thank you for sharing business insights with your clients. Looking forward to Snato with its old quality and new business strategies.
